“I worked with a rehabilitation facility in the therapy departments at several large assisted-living facilities. The bullying first began at one of them under a manager. One day, the rehab tech hid my work bag with all my belongings. I wasn’t informed about it. As I was getting ready to leave, I couldn’t locate the bag. After searching and asking around, a co-worker helped locate it.
A few days later, it was moved again from its original spot. Then it was later mentioned that she “forgot” to tell me about moving the bag at the end of the shift. I informed her about the inconvenience of it being moved without communication.
She wasn’t apologetic at all and put the blame on me for bringing the bag to work. Additionally, this small conflict led to being excluded, ignored, and rejected. Then I was eventually transferred to other locations with a bad reputation due to false rumors being spread from management in one of the bigger buildings.
The tactics they used included retaliation, surveillance, bullying, and mobbing. I couldn’t come up for air. I felt humiliated. There was so much injustice and betrayal.

Higher-ups also participated in the mobbing. They promoted the increased surveillance at all facilities as a form of retaliation of being called out. They also continued to spread rumors as part of trying to push me and others out.
The impact was devastating. It was stressful to continue working with them and to look for another job. Unemployment would have been a good idea, but I couldn’t afford to quit. The organization didn’t change. They bullied people out. The remainder of staff either participated or overlooked the wrongful treatment.”
