IGNORED, VIOLATED, AND BLAMED

“I’ve endured continuous harassment and assault — physically, sexually, and psychologically — both at work and in my personal life. I’m an artist with a background in medical studies, unshaken by nudity or taboo topics. So when I say I was sexually assaulted, I mean it was severe. The incident resembled group assault: I was physically violated while others watched or verbally encouraged it, ignoring my pleas for help. It left me with dislocated ribs, a damaged shoulder, and lasting trauma. I reported it to the police, but they ignored it. No one helped.

This abuse followed me across jobs in a small tourist town where everyone knew each other. After being sexually assaulted and harassed at one job, rumors followed me to my next. I couldn’t get hired elsewhere. One employer withheld wages, which I fought in court and won. I documented everything — being stalked, harassed, and ignored.

Eventually, due to the mental and physical toll, I lost vision from stress and medical errors and had to leave work on doctor’s orders. My partner, who was also targeted, died after emergency medical responders failed to provide proper care. They didn’t use an AED machine. I was blamed. The official report claimed I was not CPR certified, even though I had been trained and had the credentials. The trauma of being accused added to my devastation.

When it came to sexual assault, death, and abuse, no one listened. Only financial matters got attention. It’s as if they couldn’t believe someone single, without luxury habits, could be financially literate or deserve support.

I relocated, hoping for relief, but the harassment followed. I reported identity theft multiple times. I suspect I had a stroke around the time of my partner’s death, which may explain memory gaps.

The local tourism economy was struggling, and both employers exploited workers. One paid well but stripped benefits after a year. The other paid only for direct work but not for prep, making the hourly rate unlivable. When I became disabled and left, I was harassed online, had my property vandalized, and even had my sewer line intentionally blocked.

My family offered no support. After my mother passed, my brother and others took items from her home without my consent. They accused me of lying and stealing. My mother’s attorney ignored me, and the family’s ties to law enforcement made it impossible to get help.

Despite all this, I filed reports with multiple agencies — including the EEOC, civil rights organizations, the medical board, and the FBI. The system failed me at every level. When it came to sexual assault, death, and abuse, no one listened. Only financial matters got attention. It’s as if they couldn’t believe someone single, without luxury habits, could be financially literate or deserve support.

It’s only the beginning of my story, but I share it now because the silence has become unbearable.”
